Mini-assessment

Where does your adaptive work actually break down?

Nine questions, roughly three minutes. You will get a reading of your Stay · Sense · Shape reading — and a short action plan for the one that is costing you most.

Nothing is sent anywhere. The assessment runs entirely in your browser.

  1. 01 · StayWhen a problem has no clear answer yet, I can leave it open without forcing a decision to relieve the discomfort.
  2. 02 · StayI reach for a restructure, a reassurance or a new process when a room gets tense.
  3. 03 · StayI can say "I don't yet know, and here is how we are finding out" without feeling my authority slip.
  4. 04 · SenseBefore acting, I ask whether the challenge is technical — solvable by expertise — or adaptive.
  5. 05 · SenseI can name what people stand to lose from the change I am asking for: status, competence, relationships, identity.
  6. 06 · SenseI mostly read the plan and the reporting rather than the live pattern of what people actually do and avoid.
  7. 07 · ShapeI give adaptive work back to the people who must live with the answer, rather than absorbing it myself.
  8. 08 · ShapeI prefer one large, well-prepared intervention to a series of small moves I can read and adjust.
  9. 09 · ShapeAfter a deliberate move, I set aside time to read what it actually changed before committing further.

The reasoning behind the three movements is set out in the guide. The applied work happens in rooms with leadership teams and boards.
