Choice, Agency & Self
The self enters the argument. If a leader is inside the current rather than above it, agency has to be described honestly: real, partial, and continuously formed by what it acts on.

The question it turns on
How much of what you call choice is the current moving through you?
Thinkers held against it
Where the argument is contested
Too much emphasis on formation dissolves responsibility; too little produces the heroic leader the book rejects. The chapter holds both without resolving them.
To sit with
- — Where have you mistaken momentum for a decision?
- — What would you do differently if judgement were something you formed rather than possessed?
