Journey: Reflect
What stayed with you
Before asking whether they liked you, ask what you learned
Conversation asked what happened. Reflect asks something slower: what has stayed with you since, and what you now understand differently.
This is not a test of fit. What stays with you is information. It is not yet a verdict.
Notice
What became clearer — and what became less certain
Some parts of the role will have grown more interesting, others less. Some things felt natural to talk about; others needed a little self-persuasion.
- What became more interesting, and what less?
- What felt natural, and what felt forced?
- What did you notice about the people, and about the organisation around them?
- What did you not say?
Energy
Energy is data, not a verdict
It can help to notice what gave energy and what drained it — and whether that came from the role, the people, the topic, the pressure, or something else. High energy does not mean fit. Low energy does not mean the opposite.
Look closer
What you may be explaining away
Attraction can be genuine. It can also be status, timing or relief. A familiar role can fit you — or be the one you have been cast in before.
- How much of this is genuinely attractive, and how much is timing or relief?
- What are you over-weighting, and what are you explaining away?
- What would you now like to understand better?
Doubt is not the opposite of confidence. Sometimes it is what keeps confidence honest.
